Tiffany Koyano medals at the AJGA Junior Challenge

Tiffany Koyano of Rowland Heights, Calif., and Bethany Glassford of Henderson, Nev., each shot 3-over-par 75 to medal in the Girls Division.

The TEE UP Junior Challenge Srixon Qualifier, conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, featured 80 boys and 20 girls, ages 12-18, with 94 players from California. The event was staged on the par-72 Chino Creek Course at the El Prado Golf Course with boys tees set at 6,742 yards and girls tees at 5,946 yards.

In the Girls Division, there were two spots available for qualifiers in the championship tournament field, and Koyano and Glassford topped the competition by only one stroke to earn those spots. Koyano's two birdies and Glassford's five gave the two medalists what they needed to qualify for the TEE UP Junior Challenge.

"I've tried qualifying a number of times now, but still have never played in an AJGA championship event,” Koyano said. “I've never played against such tough competition, and I'm really looking forward to it.”

Congratulations Tiffany and good luck in the finals.
